It’s great news for the students appearing in NEET(UG) entrance exam 2022 [NEET (UG)-2022].More than 23000 seats increased in NEET UG-2022.Let’s see how this is possible? The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued guidelines for private medical colleges and deemed universities in India to give 50% of their seats at government fees .This decision is taken as Medical seats in India at private colleges are difficult to grab due to high fees. The benefit of this fee structure will be given to those candidates who have availed the government quota seats and apply under 50% seat of said institution.Cut off marks for NEET UG 2022 will be almost 580 .

Number of seats of Pvt.Medical College on Govt.Fee

So, almost 18000 medical seats of private medical colleges will be given on government fees. Since 2015 ,every year almost 5000 seats get increased as every year new medical colleges are opening.

So,total number of seats which is going to be increased in  2022 is more than 23000.

  5. Central pool Quota seats.

  7. AIIMS institutes across India/JIPMER.

Reservation policy for Admission in NEET UG-2022

Indian Nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by Government of India.

The categories and the extent of reservation are as follows:

  • General category belonging to economically weaker section (GEN-EWS) -10% of seats in every course.
  • Other Backward classes belonging to Non-Creamy layer (OBC-NCL)- 27%
  • Scheduled Caste (SC)- 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)- 7.5%
  • Persons with Disability (PWD) – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats.
  • Reservation policy for 15% of AIQ (All India Quota), central Institutes (ABVIMS and RML and VMMC and SJH, ESIC) universities (DU, AMU, BHU)/ AIIMS/ JIPMER is as follows:-

    SC –         15%

    ST –        7.5%

    PWD –  5%  Horizontal Reservation

    OBC –   (Non Creamy Layer) – 27%

    EWS –      10%

 ALL INDIA QUOTA SEATS

All over INDIA GOVT. seats in all states and Union territories , 15% seats is of ALL INDIA QUOTA (AIQ). In all India quota seats, other state candidates are also eligible with the students of that state.

In these AIQ seats previously only 3 categories were there i.e UR, SC, ST.So in all India quota seats previously OBC and EWS were treated as general. Only in colleges related to UNIVERSITIES under CENTRAL GOVERNMENT ,OBC and EWS had reservations e.g in DELHI reservation for OBC and EWS was in MMC, UCMS, and LHMC but not in VMMC, RML as it was in Indraprasth university. Now reservation for OBC and EWS will be there in all the seats under all India seats in all government colleges in all states and union territories.

New Categories in All India Quota seats

Now for ALL INDIA QUOTA seats, 5 categories will be there i.e  SC, ST, GENERAL, OBC, and EWS. Now OBC will have 27% reservation  and EWS will have 10% reservation . So the cut-off for all India quota seats for GEN, OBC, EWS will be different now which was the same before 2021. For example, if cut for GENERAL is 620, the cut-off for OBC will be 610 and for EWS it will be around 600.
