 About JEE Main 2022

JEE (Main) 2022 will be conducted by NTA. The JEE (main) have 2 papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to undergraduate Engineering programs (B.E, B.Tech) at NITs, IITs, other centrally funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/ Universities funded/ recognized by participating state Governments. JEE (main) is also an qualification test for JEE (Advanced) which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper – 2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses in the country.

What is NTA                                                                                         

NTA has been established as a testing organization to conduct entrance examination like JEE (main) for admission to Undergraduate Engineering programs ,NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate medical programs etc.

Online Application Form  for JEE Main 2022  :                        Online application Form filling date for JEE (Main) – 2022 for session -1 ended on 25 April 2022. It was available from 18th April to 25th April 2022. For session- 2 Application form filling will start once the window gets open. Application form for session- 2 will be available on website https://jeemain.nta.nic.in

Date of Exam. for JEE Main 2022

Session 1: 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 June 2022

Session 2: 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 July 2022

Candidates can fill up the Application Form and pay the fee for each session separately at the time of opening the portal for that session.         

Steps of filling  Application Form of JEE Main 2022

Application Form for each session can be filled in 3 steps. The  process is as below:

This includes filling of personal details, applying for examination cities, qualification document upload.

    Step 3: Fee Payment.

Number of Sessions for JEE Main 2022

JEE (Main) 2022 will be conducted in 2 sessions (June/July). During the registration only session 2 (July) will be visible when the window will be open, as registration for session 1 has closed on 25th April. If some mistake is made to registration, no correction facility will be given at any stage under any circumstance. 

 Mode of Exam.

JEE (Main)- 2022 Examination will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) Mode only , except that the Drawing Test for B. Arch which will be held in pen and paper mode.

Student can appear in any / both session 

A candidate don’t have to appear in both sessions. However, if a candidate appear in both the sessions then his/her best of the JEE (Main) – 2022 NTA scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List Ranking.

The SANDES App can be downloaded and installed on mobile device from play store. Candidates should download and install the SANDES App as a secondary channel to receive time to time notification/updates from NTA.

Benefit of 2 sessions 

The JEE (Main) – 2022 will be conducted in 2 sessions for admissions in the next academic session. The students will have the benefit in the following ways.

  1. This will give two times opportunity to the candidates to improve their scores in the examination if they are not able to perform as per their expectation in one attempt.
  2. This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.

Syllabus of JEE (Main)- 2022

The Syllabus of JEE (Main) – 2022 is same as JEE Main 2021. However,due to the decision taken by CBSE and other boards to reduce the syllabus of board exam due to the effect of Corona pandemic, NTA has decided that there will be a total of 90 questions and the candidates will be required to attempt 75 questions only.

There will be negative marking in both the sections i.e. Section A (MCQ Type Questions) and Section B (Numerical Value).

Minimum Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit in JEE Main 2022

Students can appear in JEE (Main) for consecutive 3 years only. Those candidate who have passed the class – 12th/equivalent exam in 2020/2021 or appearing in 12th/equivalent exam in 2022 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main)- 2022.

          For appearing in JEE (Main) – 2022 there is no age limit. Candidates who have passed in 2020, 2021 or appearing in 2022 12th exam, can appear in JEE (Main) – 2022 irrespective of their Age.

Medium of Exam.

The JEE (Main)- 2022 will be conducted in Assames, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malyalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi and English.

Qualification Criteria:

Qualifying Exam: – Candidates must qualify their 10+2 or equivalent Examination from a recognized board.

Subjects:- Candidates must have to take minimum 5 subjects in 12th/equivalent examination .Candidates  appearing for JEE (Main) must have passed class 12th with Physics and Mathematics  as compulsory subject along with one of the subjects out of chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology Technical Vocational subject.

Passing Marks 

There is no prescribed percentage to appear in the exam. Candidates will now only need passing certificate in class 12th irrespective of the marks obtained.
